Thanks for the call back to the Green Mountain Power plan, Ronald!

No plan has been offered how that is supposed to speed up.

And nothing is mentioned about the fine print: with no real announcements about it, the government stands by while Nova Scotia says I guess to meet the 2030 off coal requirement we will be converting coal plants to burn fuel oil.

Their approach may hold some interesting ideas for our rollout of wind, solar and storage here.

Green Mountain Power’s 2030 Zero Outages Initiative envisions each residential customer having battery storage. Its 270,000 customers will then have backup power when they need it. When it isn’t needed, it can be fed back into the grid during Green Mountain’s peak demand time. Green Mountain will repay their customers by netting the cost to keep their batteries charged against the energy they provide Green Mountain to meet their needs.

Everybody wins. Green Mountain will significantly reduce its expensive third party, GHG intensive, peak time energy costs. Customers benefit through increased reliability, overall lower cost, and a smaller carbon footprint.
