So far, very little if any thought seems to have been given to using as little of the “critical” metals as possible in the manufacture of EVs. I think it’s great that the top model of Lucid Air has an 800 km. range, but it’s battery must be very large, and why does it have to accelerate to 100 km/hr. in just over 2 seconds? I’m really worried about all the mining that will have to be done to supply metals for EV batteries. If we’re not to pillage the natural world in our quest for these metals, we’re going to have to give up on the idea that EVs can be just as big and powerful as the present generation of gas guzzlers.

What is not to like?
