Thanks, Karen. We weren’t aiming to be uplifting or otherwise with this post — just telling the story. We did not hesitate to put the Nisga’a Nation’s concern about climate and commitment to a “net-zero” operation in the context of the upstream methane emissions they’ll be associated with, or the problems they will quite likely run into if they’re relying on industrial carbon capture. But their decades-long effort to line up economic development opportunities for the Nass Valley was also an important aspect of the story, and well worth reporting on — there’s no justification in 2021 to build a new LNG or any other fossil facility anywhere, but if there were ever a legitimate reason, I’d say it would be to serve a community, not Exxon or Chevron shareholders!

Any story on LNG activities are nothing to be celebrated.
